Chris on Crystals
I work with crystals, both in healing and in making wearable objects of attunement. How do crystals affect us? In 1944 Noble Prize-winning physicist Max Planck the man recognized as the Father of Quantum Physics made this statement. “There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and that holds most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force, the existence of a conscious intelligence spirit. This spirit is the Matrix of all matter.” So, vibrational rates are extremely important, and each crystal is like a tuning fork, as it vibrates at a very defined frequency. The vibration rate of the cells in our bodies is determined by our emotions, and working with crystals can bring our emotions into harmony with the vibrational rate of the crystal.
When I am considering working with a crystal for the first time, I let it show me what it can do. To this end, I find a quiet place and picture a blackboard with nothing on it. Holding that image, I focus on the Crown Chakra, then the Brow Chakra, slowly progressing chakra by chakra to the Root Chakra. I then pick up the crystal, in this case, it is a piece of Larimar. Visually it brings to mind wispy clouds floating in a blue sky. Touching it connects me to a very gentle soothing energy. I feel the focal point of this energy is the Throat Chakra, but I can feel its effects from just below the Brow Chakra to just above the Heart Chakra.
It is said we are Psychical and Spiritual beings, but everything including ourselves is energy. And the percentage of our body that has coalesced into what we call solid matter is less than 1/1,000,000,000,000 of 1%. Regardless of how we perceive ourselves, we are energy beings and there are two major energies that feed us. Coming up from the Root Chakra is the visceral, emotion-driven Kundalini, or Serpent Power, and coming down from the Crown Chakra is Spiritual Creator or Psychic Energy. These are two very different energies. The Kundalini is hot survival-focused and concerned with the procreation, pleasure, health, and wellbeing of the physical organism. The Creator or Psychic is cold and detached, it knows all, but sees all as one, and does not perceive things as good or bad. It is more concerned with the awakening and evolution of the individual’s consciousness, rather than with the survival of the physical organism. For those of you who have connected with it, I know that the feeling is one of total bliss, a feeling of warmth, and total unconditional love embracing you like a cloud. This bliss is the natural state of the soul, but you can only experience it when you reject “FEAR”.
As these two energies flow through the body they mix. The ratio of this mixture endows each chakra with its unique energy. In the Heart Chakra, these two energies are in a perfect mix. Desire and Creator Knowledge merge, and physical manifestation is the result. The Throat Chakra is one step removed, the Creator Energy does lead to manifestation here, but the product is not quite as physical. The product here is the shaping of ideas and emotions in a form that allows them to be shared. This communication could take the form of blueprints, writing, speaking, singing, drawing, body language, basically anything that lets you share your thoughts, feelings, or perceptions with others. One of the most powerful of these is that little inner voice you hear. We all talk to ourselves, some out loud but for most, it is just that little voice in our head. Unfortunately that little voice can often be our greatest critic, when repeatedly focusing on our shortcomings and damaging us.
It is called a “Voice”, this is the inner “Creator” that crafts our communications including our inner critic. When we are constantly communicating to ourselves that we are not enough, is it surprising that our body language, speech, and written communication to others is tainted with the message that “You” are not enough? Larimar is a very powerful crystal, but its energy is very subtle. Our little inner critic is a F.E.A.R. monger, which stands for “False Evidence Appearing Real”. A fearful person is the victim of 1,000 imagined fates. Larimar’s soothing gentle energy clams this fearful little beast, and its gentle strength gives us the confidence to be who we are and let our true self speak.
As stated I felt Larimar from just below the Brow Chakra to just above the Heart Chakra, therefore it affects a number of important body parts. Namely, the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, mouth, throat, neck, bronchioles, larynx, esophagus, and lungs. This is by no means a complete list, but it gives you an idea of what Larimar effects.
Some see healing as a battle, and may not feel the gentle energy of this stone. It is not potent enough to make it an effective weapon. The “Kill the Symptom Mentality” has been around forever, and it is wrong. 80% of all illness is caused by stress, a condition that results from unresolved mental/emotional conflict. Stress is like a thorn in your flesh, you can treat the wound with antiseptic and protect it from infection with a band aid. But the body is not going to truly heal until you remove the thorn. Illnesses caused by stress can only be truly cured by resolving the underlying causal conflict. Working with Larimar can not only help resolve these conflicts, but it can act as a preventive.
When I feel I have connected with the stone, and understand its abilities, I research it. This is what I found out about Larimar.
The stone was originally known as Travelina, and it was discovered in 1916 in the Dominican Republic by Father Miguel Domingo Fuetes. It remained virtually unknown until it was rediscovered in 1974 by Miguel Mendez. The stone was found along the beaches and was thought to come from the sea, and looking at the stone was said to be like looking at the blue waters of the Caribbean.
So it is not hard to understand why Mendez gave it the name we know it by today Larimar which he came up with by combining his daughter’s name “Larissa” and the Spanish word for sea “mar”. Larimar is also known as the “Dolphin Stone” and the “Atlantis Stone” reaffirming that people feel that its energy is connected to the sea. Which endows the stone with a certain duality, because it is an igneous stone which means Larimar’s place of birth was the heart of a volcano. High hardness is a characteristic of most Igneous stones – however, Larimar is really soft, so if you have a piece, it is a good idea to store it in a pouch to keep it from being scratched. This will also protect from sunlight as Larimar is photosensitive, and will fade if left exposed to sunlight. A great stone for a pendant, a bracelet maybe, but it is relatively soft and I would not use it in a ring.
